First: Happy Valentine’s! Now entering homework. Valentine’s Day is often associated with romantic love, but it’s also a beautiful opportunity to celebrate love and togetherness with the kiddos. There are countless ways to make Valentine’s Day special for everyone in the family. In this blog post, we’ll explore 10 Valentine’s Day activities to have fun with the whole family, from cozy movie nights to fun-filled scavenger hunts.

#1 Family Movie Night

I know this is the most obvious one, but there’s something magical about snuggling up with your loved ones for a cozy movie night, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for it. Pick out a selection of family-friendly romantic movies or animated films that everyone will enjoy. From timeless classics to modern favorites, there’s no shortage of heartwarming movies to choose from. Set up a comfortable viewing area with blankets and pillows, pop some popcorn, and let the movie marathon begin!

I’m going to leave you with 3 ideas:

  • Super Mario Bros
  • Enchanted
  • Home Alone

#2 Family Game Night

Yes, I know again this is another obvious, but turning Valentine’s Day into a night of friendly competition and laughter with a family game night always has its catch.

Dust off your favorite board games or card games and gather around the table for some quality bonding time. You can even make it Valentine’s Day themed by playing games with a love or heart theme. My favorite game board at this moment is Ticket to Ride, is a fun game and also puts your strategic thinking in play.

So, whether you’re strategizing in a game (Monopoly is another one of my favorites) or testing your trivia knowledge in a round of charades, family game night is sure to create lasting memories for everyone involved.

If you have toddlers (like me), these games are a blast. They will enjoy it and you are too:

#3 DIY Valentine’s Day Crafts

Get creative and crafty with the whole family by spending the day making homemade Valentine’s Day cards, decorations, or crafts.

Set up a designated crafting area with plenty of supplies like construction paper, markers, glitter, and glue.

Encourage each family member to let their creativity shine as they create personalized cards for each other or make festive decorations to spruce up the home. If you have a little girl who loves to paint and play with colors, she’s going to have a blast. Also, it’s an activity where kids or toddlers have a specific moment to be kind and generous with each other, and the joy of creating together will make Valentine’s Day even more special.

#4 Cook a Family Meal Together

There’s no better way to bond as a family than by cooking and enjoying a delicious meal together. Plan a special Valentine’s Day dinner menu that everyone can contribute to, whether it’s choosing a dish to make or helping with the cooking and setting the table. Get everyone involved in the kitchen, from chopping vegetables to stirring sauces, and enjoy the process of creating a memorable meal together. Once the feast is ready, gather around the table to share good food and even better company, making Valentine’s Day a truly heartwarming celebration of family love and togetherness.

#5 Family Outing

Escape the confines of home and embark on a family outing to a local park, zoo, museum, or any other family-friendly attraction. Spend the night exploring new surroundings, taking in the beauty of nature, or learning something new together. You can be picnicking in the park, marveling at exotic animals, or immersing yourselves in history and culture, a family outing is always a wonderful way to create cherished memories and strengthen the bonds of love and unity on Valentine’s Day.

#6 Family Spa Day

Treat yourselves to a day of relaxation and pampering with a family spa day at home. This is something your girls will love. Set up a mini spa area with luxurious essentials like homemade facials, foot soaks, and massages. Encourage everyone to unwind and indulge in some much-needed self-care as you take turns pampering each other. To give you an idea, use soothing face masks, soak tired feet in warm water, or give gentle massages. I’m sure that the shared experience of relaxation and rejuvenation will leave everyone feeling loved and appreciated on Valentine’s Day.

#7 Family Scavenger Hunt

Add an element of adventure and excitement to Valentine’s Day with a family scavenger hunt. This will be amazing if you have toddlers around. Create a Valentine’s Day-themed scavenger hunt around your home or neighborhood, complete with hidden clues and treasures waiting to be discovered. Divide into teams or work together as a family to solve riddles, follow clues, and uncover hidden surprises. From chocolate treats to heartfelt messages, each discovery will bring joy and laughter to the entire family, making Valentine’s Day an unforgettable adventure filled with love and fun.

Also, you can have this scavenger hunt game.

#8 Family Volunteer Day

Celebrate the true spirit of Valentine’s Day by giving back to your community as a family. Volunteer at a local charity, participate in a community service project together or organize a donation drive. This last one is my favorite because it teaches the kiddos generosity, a sense of giving, and to be nice to each other. All those 3 very important about Valentine’s Day.

So, whether you’re serving meals at a homeless shelter, cleaning up a local park, or spending time with residents at a nursing home, the act of giving back will not only make a positive impact on others but also strengthen the bonds of love and compassion within your own family.

#9 Family Karaoke Night

Turn up the volume and let loose with a family karaoke night at home. My kids love karaoke night. Gather around the microphone and take turns belting out your favorite love songs or family-friendly tunes. This karaoke night is sure to be filled with laughter, joy, and plenty of memorable moments. Encourage everyone to let go of their inhibitions and embrace the fun of singing their hearts out, making Valentine’s Day a celebration of love, laughter, and music for the whole family to enjoy.

I recently bought this karaoke machine, and it has been a great addition to the family room.

#10 Family Photo Session

Capture the love and laughter of Valentine’s Day with a family photo session. Hire a professional photographer or set up a DIY photo booth at home with props and backdrops. Dress up in Valentine’s Day-themed outfits or coordinate matching colors and strike a pose as you capture precious moments together. I did this with my entire family for Christmas and the results were amazing, so doing this for Valentine’s Day should be too.

Closing Thoughts

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and togetherness, and what better way to do so than with the whole family? So it doesn’t matter what you do, if you’re enjoying cozy movie nights, crafting heartfelt cards, or embarking on exciting adventures together, the most important thing is to spend quality time with the ones you love.

By incorporating these heartwarming ideas into your Valentine’s Day celebrations, you’ll create cherished memories and strengthen the bonds of family love that will last a lifetime.

So, gather your loved ones, spread love and joy, and make this Valentine’s Day a truly special celebration for the whole family.
